Description
This service addresses misalignment between the latch bolt and the strike plate caused by door sagging—often resulting from loose hinges or ground subsidence. We restore precise alignment by adjusting hinge positions, reinforcing the door frame, or modifying the strike plate, ensuring the lock engages smoothly without requiring the door to be lifted forcefully.
After the order is placed, please use a spirit level to roughly check for variations in the gaps at the top and bottom of the door. Upon arrival, the technician loosens the hinge screws, uses a hydraulic jack or shims to level the door, and then retightens the screws. We then check the vertical and horizontal alignment of the latch bolt and strike plate; if significant misalignment exists, we reposition the strike plate or fill and adjust the existing holes.
Following adjustments, the door is opened and closed repeatedly to ensure the lock engages smoothly without sticking. We also measure the clearance between the bottom of the door and the floor to prevent scraping. A door adjustment record is provided, detailing the hinge adjustments made and the recommended follow-up monitoring schedule.
