Description
This service involves installing lightning and surge protection devices on outdoor access control wiring and power lines to minimize damage to locks and control boards caused by induced overvoltage from lightning strikes. We select protection modules with appropriate specifications based on the line type (power or signal) and ensure reliable grounding to enhance system resilience during thunderstorm seasons.
Upon receiving an order, we assess the existing wiring environment (overhead or underground) and local thunderstorm frequency. During on-site installation, surge protectors are connected in series at the power input and signal line entry points, and a dedicated grounding wire connects the system to the building’s grounding grid. Grounding resistance is measured to ensure compliance with standards.
After installation, a simulated surge test (using a portable generator) is performed to verify the protector’s response. We will also affix a label indicating the replacement date next to the surge protector to remind you to check the indicator light status annually. A lightning protection installation and testing report will be provided.
